In some countries, cloud seeding is used to avert potential hail damage. Cloud seeding refers to the targeted introduction of aerosol particles with the aim of changing the microphysical structure of the cloud. In the case of hail suppression, the aim is to create more ice crystals in the cloud so that more hailstones are formed, which are not as large and therefore cause less damage. This article is about how cloud seeding works, which methods can be used and how successful hail suppression is.</p>
