The Günter Brannahl Image Archive comprises photographs taken by Göttingen-based restorator Günter Brannahl (died 1986) during several trips to Yemen in the late 1970s and early 1980s. These trips were part of a project based at the University of Hamburg to restore ancient manuscripts found in the Great Mosque in the city of Sana'a. The photographs taken during these trips show Sana'a, the restoration workshop, manuscripts before and after restoration, and various regions of Yemen that Mr. Brannahl visited from Sana'a.
