    <description descriptionType="Abstract">&lt;p&gt;Ver&amp;auml;nderungen in der Intensit&amp;auml;t und H&amp;auml;ufigkeit von Extremen haben in den letzten Jahrzehnten viel Aufmerksamkeit auf sich gezogen, vor allem aufgrund ihrer gro&amp;szlig;en Auswirkungen auf die nat&amp;uuml;rliche Umwelt, die Wirtschaft und die menschliche Gesundheit. Der Beitrag stellt die Charakteristika der Erw&amp;auml;rmung der Meere, die Ausdehnung der Tropen durch Str&amp;ouml;mungsverlagerungen, sowie anhaltende D&amp;uuml;rren heraus. M&amp;ouml;gliche Implikationen f&amp;uuml;r die Umwelt werden diskutiert.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Ocean warming, expansion of the tropics and persistent droughts:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; Changes in the intensity and frequency of extremes have attracted much attention in recent decades, primarily because of their large impacts on the natural environment, the economy, and human health. This paper highlights the characteristics of ocean warming, tropical expansion due to current shifts, and persistent droughts, and addresses also the implications for the environment.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Calentamiento de los oc&amp;eacute;anos, expansi&amp;oacute;n de los tr&amp;oacute;picos y sequ&amp;iacute;as persistentes: &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;Los cambios en la intensidad y frecuencia de los extremos han atra&amp;iacute;do mucha atenci&amp;oacute;n en las &amp;uacute;ltimas d&amp;eacute;cadas, en gran parte debido a sus grandes impactos en el medio ambiente natural, la econom&amp;iacute;a y la salud humana. Este art&amp;iacute;culo destaca las caracter&amp;iacute;sticas del calentamiento de los oc&amp;eacute;anos, la expansi&amp;oacute;n de los tr&amp;oacute;picos a trav&amp;eacute;s de corrientes cambiantes, as&amp;iacute; como las sequ&amp;iacute;as persistentes. Se discuten las posibles implicaciones para el medio ambiente.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
