The wax scatters the light slightly under the surface. The areas affected by the disease Myxoedema circumscriptum symmetricum are mostly brown to bluegray and come with swollen skin deformation.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>Wax moulages are lifelike replicas of body parts showing pathological patterns. These models, mainly used in dermatology between 1850 and 1950, were usually cast over a plaster or silicone negative from real patients.
